Welcome to the ABCs of Election Security

This course is the most comprehensive poll watcher training available, updated for 2026. It's built to help you observe elections with confidence and a clear sense of what matters.

Since 2021, TBTR has researched election security procedures nationwide. Again and again, the research found the same three safeguards eroding. Those three safeguards are the framework for everything you'll learn here.

• Auditability: Can the results be independently checked and verified?
• Ballot secrecy: Is every voter's choice kept private?
• Chain of custody: Are ballots and equipment tracked and secured at every handoff?

An election is trustworthy only when all three hold. In this course you'll learn what each safeguard looks like when it's working, how to spot the gaps when it isn't, and how to document what you observe. You'll finish with a certificate of completion.

The course is self-paced, so work through it on your schedule and come back to it before Election Day. We provide the forms for you to fill in as a poll watcher/observer. Cost is $25 and you will recieve a secure link to log into your course.
